Domain Administration

A NuoDB domain consists of one or more NuoDB hosts that are used for deploying and managing one or more NuoDB distributed databases.

A NuoDB domain is quite different from a NuoDB SQL DOMAIN type. A SQL DOMAIN is a standard user-defined field type in SQL.

As a minimum, a domain comprises one host that is running one NuoDB Admin Process (AP). To scale the domain, update the nuoadmin.conf configuration file where NuoDB has been installed to enable new nodes to peer into a domain. For more information, see Host Properties (nuoadmin.conf).

For further information on expanding a domain to include multiple hosts, see Extending the Database Across a Second Host (Scaling Out) and Admin Process (AP). In a NuoDB domain, all APs are connected to each other.
