Performing Backups

When performing a backup, the following options are available:

Performing Regular Backups

To schedule a regular backup using the backup-cronjob template log into OpenShift UI and do the following:

  1. Select your NuoDB project.
  2. Click Add to Project.
  3. Click Select from Project.
    A Select from Project wizard displays.
  4. On the Selection screen select backup-cronjob and click Next.
    The Information screen confirms details of the template selected on the previous screen.
  5. Click Next and complete the following mandatory fields:
  6. If you leave the UID field blank, a UID will be automatically generated. If you wish to specify a string to make this backup instance unique, enter that string here.
  7. Click Create.

Viewing CronJobs

The OpenShift UI cannot display a CronJob, but it does display individual jobs started by the CronJob. For example, if you schedule a backup to run every hour, you cannot view the object that has the hourly schedule, but every hour you will see a new job start to perform the actual backup.

To view alll CronJobs in the system, run the following command:

$ oc get cronjobs

This command displays the name and details for all CronJobs scheduled.

Deleting CronJobs

To delete a CronJob, run the following command for each CronJob:

$ oc delete cronjob/<name-of-cronjob>

A message is returned to confirm deletion of the CronJob specified.

cronjob "<name-of-cronjob>" deleted

Performing One-Off Backups

To initiate a one-off backup operation using the backup-single template log into OpenShift UI and do the following:

  1. Select your NuoDB project.
  2. Click Add to Project.
  3. Click Select from Project.
    A Select from Project wizard displays.
  4. On the Selection screen select backup-single and click Next.
    The Information screen confirms details of the template selected on the previous screen.
  5. Click Next and complete the following mandatory fields:
  6. Click Create.
