Preparing to Upgrade
Before you upgrade to a newer NuoDB release, best practices include the following steps:
- Stop an SM and run
- If there are errors, you may upgrade your database using the upgrade with databases down method.
nuoarchive check on the archive of every storage group served by that SM. For more information on
using nuoarchive check, see NuoDB Archive.
- If there are no errors, you may upgrade your database using either the upgrade with databases down method or the rolling upgrade method. For an overview of the upgrade methods available, see Upgrading to a New Release.
- Back up your databases. For general information on backing up NuoDB databases, see Backing Up and Restoring Databases.
- Determine whether you will want to change any NuoDB configuration files to take advantage of new features or changes to features. See and Changes in this Release. On each upgraded host, you will want to make any necessary updates to configuration files before you restart the NuoDB Admin process on that host.
