NuoDB development is supported on 64-bit Windows platforms, but production deployment is supported on only Linux systems.
You can download the free NuoDB Community Edition installation package from the Community Edition Download page. When you are ready to upgrade to the Professional or Enterprise Edition, contact NuoDB sales for the Professional or Enterprise Edition installation package.
NuoDB on Windows requires the following:
You must have Java JRE installed. For details of versions supported, see System Requirements.
The installation will look for Java in this order:
1) JAVA_HOME
environment variable.
2) Java JRE 11 and higher, using the new registry keys.
3) Java JRE 8 using the old registry keys.
NuoDB installation on Windows fails if the Java JRE is not installed. The 64-bit installer requires a 64-bit Java installation. For example, you can download Java 8 directly from Oracle's Server JRE 8 Downloads page, selecting the appropriate install tar.gz file.
Windows Update KB2999226 should be installed. Depending on your operating system and its update status, update KB2999226 may have dependencies on updates KB2919355 and KB2919442.
NuoDB recommends that you run Windows Update and then try to install KB2999226. If it does not install initially, then check for dependencies. For details, see the prerequisites section in this update article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226.
These updates are required by Visual Studio 2015, which is used to compile this version of NuoDB. If you install updates, ensure that you install the correct ones as described in these Microsoft Knowledge Base articles:
The default Windows installation directory is C:\Program Files\NuoDB
. Installation automatically adds C:\Program Files\NuoDB\bin
to your PATH
environment variable.
Note: To change the installation directory use /D <install dir>. It must be the last parameter used in the command line and must not contain any quotes, even if the path contains spaces. Only absolute paths are supported.
In addition to copying files to the correct places, the installer does the following:
