How Creation of Extra Processes is Avoided

Process barriers prevent a broker from starting database processes (TEs and SMs) until specific conditions are met. Shortly after a broker is started, you may see messages in the log, or in response to requests to start processes, indicating that either the ProcessReconnect barrier or the DSMResync barrier prevented process start. Both barriers are safety measures that prevent a broker from starting processes when it should not. In a healthy system, simply waiting will let the barriers complete and allow processes to start.

The default behavior is that the processStartWaitBarrier host property (specified in the file) enables the ProcessReconnect barrier and the DSMResync barrier for all databases, both managed and unmanaged.
