Choosing Hosts for Managed Databases
A managed database is a database created with a NuoDB built-in template. When you create a managed database you choose the hosts that it runs on according to the template the database uses:
- A database that uses the Single Host template is started on the host you specify. Creating a database with this template prompts you to pick one of the hosts in your domain.
- A databases created with the Minimally Redundant or Multi Host template requires that you select a region in which to run the database. Any host in that region is a candidate to start the database's storage manager and transaction engine processes.
- A database created with the Region distributed template runs in all regions so you are not prompted to select a host or region.
See also About Broker Quorum for an understanding of the tasks (for example, create a database, cold restart of a database, add a host to the domain) that require a majority of the brokers in the domain to be running.
