About Region Commit Protocol

Region commit may be configured with or without journaling. With journaling is the default. It is recommended that region commit is used with journaling enabled.

Without journaling means that there is no requirement to journal a commit request before an acknowledgment is sent; with journaling means the commit request must be journaled before an acknowledgment is sent.

Without a number argument, one region is required to acknowledge the transaction before it is committed.

When a transaction engine (TE) receives a commit request, the TE asynchronously broadcasts the commit to all available nodes, (SMs and TEs).

For information regarding region commit when Storage Groups are present, see the description for commit at Database Options.
