About NuoDB Editions

NuoDB is available in three editions:

Installation of the Community, Professional and Enterprise Editions is the same except for any differences noted in platform-specific installation pages.

Identifying Which Edition You Are Using

To identify which NuoDB edition you are using, start the NuoDB Manager command line tool and enter the show domain license command. For example:

nuodb [domain] > show domain license
Community Edition License
Uid = 47527b91-25a6-4bba-a890-eed31211941c
Holder = Community
Invalid before = August 11, 2015 1:14:47 PM UTC

About the Community Edition

In addition to being free, the NuoDB Community Edition differs from the other editions in that it supports a maximum of three Transaction Engines (TEs) and 1 Storage Manager (SM). Consequently, Storage Groups features are not available in the Community Edition. The Community Edition is suitable for evaluation purposes and you can download it from the NuoDB web site.

About the Professional and Enterprise Editions

NuoDB Professional and Enterprise Editions are available for larger configurations and deployment. For details about the features provided by these editions, contact NuoDB sales.

Upgrading to Professional or Enterprise Edition

To upgrade from the Community Edition to the Professional or Enterprise Edition, install the Professional or Enterprise Edition installation package over the Community Edition installation. Do not uninstall the Community Edition first, unless you do not want to keep your existing databases. It is not necessary to shut down any database processes before installing the NuoDB Enterprise Edition. NuoDB services (REST service, brokers and agents, and the tray monitor service) are restarted, but TEs and SMs will remain running.

To find out more about the Professional or Enterprise editions of NuoDB, contact NuoDB sales.

Caution: Downgrading from Professional or Enterprise Editions to Community Edition is not supported. You must uninstall a Professional or Enterprise Edition before installing Community Edition.
